Meet-the-Author Tea: February 19
North Carolina author James Dodson will be the guest presenter at the next Friends of the Chapel Hill Public Library Meet-the-Author Tea on Friday, February 19.
Dodson’s books on golf include biographies of Ben Hogan and Arnold Palmer. His non-golf work has appeared in Gentlemen’s Quarterly, The New York Times, Sports Illustrated, Travel and Leisure, Town and Country, Reader’s Digest, Geo, Outside Magazine, and numerous other national publications.
Dodson’s latest book, A Son of the Game, is a story of golf, sharing life’s lessons and going home. It is filled with anecdotes about the many characters who are part of both the history of the game and of Pinehurst — the Home of American Golf — where many larger-than-life legends played some of their greatest rounds.
A father of two, Dodson resides in Southern Pines NC and is currently Writer-in-Residence at The Pilot Newspaper in Southern Pines and editor of PineStraw Magazine. He is also an an award-winning regular columnist for Golf Magazine for almost 20 years, a travel editor for Departures Magazine and a Senior Writer for the Atlanta Journal and Constitution Sunday Magazine and Yankee Magazine. Dodson’s public affairs and political writing have won numerous national awards including the William Allen White Award for Public Affairs Journalism given by the University of Kansas.
Refreshments will be served at 3:30 p.m. and the program will be from 4:00 to 5:00 p.m. at the Chapel Hill Public Library, 100 Library Drive.
