  1. Websites can be created by anyone and can contain anything, regardless of accuracy.

    Databases are an online subscription version of reference books, magazine articles, journal articles, data, audiobooks and videos that you won't find with a search engine. Chapel Hill Public Library subscribes to these databases either individually or through NCLive.

  2. Remote access databases are provided by Chapel Hill Public Library and require a library card and pin number to access them. 

    NC Live databases provided by the State Library of North Carolina require the NC Live password.  To obtain the NC Live password, CLICK HERE and log in with your library card barcode and your PIN number.  Or you may call 968-2780.

  3. Remote access databases & resources are indicated by this image. remote access   These resources require users to log in using their library card barcode number and PIN number. You must have a current, valid Chapel Hill Public Library borrower's card. Your library card barcode number appears under the barcode on the back of your card.

  4. If you are unable to log in, one of the following is probably the case:
    • Your library card may have expired
    • You may have overdue library materials or unpaid fines
    • The online resource may have reached limit of users. Wait a while, then try to log in again.

  5. Your library barcode can be found on the BACK of your CHPL library card.  Turn over your library card and you'll see a number starting with  25064 .  That is your barcode number.
