Summer Reading Program 2013

Chapel Hill Public Library Summer Reading

June 1 - August 10, 2013

What comes to mind when you think about summer? Swimming? Summer camp? Barbecues? Music in the park? This year, why not make reading and sharing books part of your summer fun?

No matter what your reason for reading -- whether it's to learn new things, escape with a great story, or simply to relax and unwind -- you reap great benefits. Teachers and literacy experts agree that reading throughout the summer helps students retain skills learned during the school year. Most importantly, when parents and children enjoy summer reading together, children develop a love of books and reading that lasts a lifetime.

Three Programs to Choose from (Kids/Teens/Adults):

Kids: Set your reading goal, in hours, and log your time online. Pick up weekly prizes at the library, and another prize when you reach your goal.

Teens: Set your reading goal, in hours, and log your time online. Qualify for weekly prize drawings for every 3 hours of reading, and another prize when you reach your goal.

Adults: Set your reading goal, in hours, and log your time online. Qualify for weekly prize drawings for every 3 hours of reading, and another prize when you reach your goal.

All hours logged count towards a community reading goal of 20,000 hours!

Click on one of the items below, starting May 18, to register for the Summer Reading program!

Logging starts June 1.
