The Orange County Department on Aging presents a four part series to help you gain skills and resources to better understand, support, and love those in your lives living with dementia. Something can be learned in a single session, but attending all 4 is recommended.

After participating in the Dementia Basics Series, attendees will:

  • Know the basics of brain health
  • Know the types and stages of dementia
  • Be able to recognize the signs of dementia
  • Have a greater understanding and compassion for those living with dementia
  • Be prepared for a loved one’s dementia journey
  • Gain skills to communicate more effectively with someone living with dementia
  • Learn best practices for staying actively engaged when living with dementia
  • Gain skills, knowledge, and resources for arranging physical spaces for those living with dementia
  • Learn best technologies to use for those living with dementia

    - We're offering a free seminar on senior housing options. Michelle Westrom will draw on more than 14 years of industry experience to help you make a confident and informed decision about future housing choices. This event will help you better understand the differences between 55+ communities, continuing care communities, assisted living, and memory/skilled nursing facilities. The seminar will also cover how to review contracts, talk about waiting periods, and other helpful tips to help with the planning process.
