Interested in becoming a Teen Explorer at Chapel Hill Public Library?

This free camp runs from 10 am to 2 pm each day from Monday, June 24 through Friday, June 28. Campers will work on citizen science programs, nature journaling, botanical illustration, and both art and outdoor projects.

To be considered, you’ll have to be able to be here each day. When you complete this application, please return it to a staff member. Applications are due June 19.

  • June 24, 2019
    10:00 am - 2:00 pm
    - Introduction to nature journaling using the John Muir Laws methods and techniques. Learn to use a GPS hand held unit to find geocaches in the park. If their is time we will also create a "sound map" of the park.
  • June 25, 2019
    10:00 am - 2:00 pm
    - Botany. Games, journaling and nature art will teach basic botany.
  • June 26, 2019
    10:00 am - 2:00 pm
    - Day 3 will focus on water, including an exploration of the creek in Pritchard Park.
  • June 27, 2019
    10:00 am - 2:00 pm
    - Birds. Teens will learn to use binoculars, create an Audubon Bird Call, play the egg matching game, and learn to use the eBird and Merlin apps
  • June 28, 2019
    10:00 am - 2:00 pm
    - Citizen Science and Critter Cam selfies.
