    About the Project

Chapel Hill Public Library, in partnership with the Refugee Community Partnership and other Town of Chapel Hill departments, is launching a new project to help immigrants and refugees in our community get a North Carolina driver's license. We created a series of short, easy-to-follow videos and driver’s handbooks in five different languages—Burmese, Arabic, Karen, Spanish, and English. These resources explain the steps needed to apply for a license, from scheduling an appointment to passing the written and road tests. All materials are available for free on our website and will be shared with other libraries and community groups across North Carolina.

This project was supported by grant funds from the Institute of Museum and Library Services under the provisions of the federal Library Services and Technology Act (LST A) as administered by the State Library of North Carolina, a division of the Department of Natural and Cultural Resources (IMLS grant number LS-253645-OLS-23).
