Get a library card

library card

Set up your library account by completing the linked form. You can also stop by the library in person to get a card.

Once you submit the form, you will receive a six-digit library account number. You no longer need a physical library card to borrow materials — though you can have one if you'd like. Instead, you can access our collection using this number.

Library cards are available at no cost to the following:

  • People who live in Orange County
  • People who pay property taxes to Chapel Hill or Orange County
  • Chapel Hill-Carrboro City Schools students and employees, regardless of where they live
  • Town of Chapel Hill employees and those who retired from the Town with 5 years of service, regardless of where they live

Don't meet any of these criteria?

You can get a card for $65 per year. Register now for immediate access and we will be in touch for payment processing.
