Library Foundation

The mission of the Chapel Hill Public Library Foundation is to provide financial support to enhance the capabilities, resources, and services of the Chapel Hill Public Library. Through annual giving, fundraising campaigns, and special events, the Foundation raises funds to achieve their vision – a world class library with the means to adapt to the rapidly changing aspirations and needs of our community.

The Foundation also oversees the Cornelia Spencer Love Trust, established by a long-time library lover in 1981. Through good stewardship and fiscal management, the Trust has grown from an initial balance of $300,000 to over $1.2 million today. The Love Trust provides annual operating support to the Library, as well as special disbursements as needed. In 2015, the Foundation approved a disbursement of $200,000 to contribute to the purchase of an Automated Materials Handler, a major technology investment for the Library and the Town of Chapel Hill that, like the Love Trust, will have a lasting impact.
