Geologist Will Blocher of the NC Geological Survey Education Outreach will lead the program. First, we'll have a demonstration on tectonic faulting that demonstrates how compressive stress can build up in the Earth's crust, and how that stress can cause fractures in the earth which lead to earthquakes.

Next, you're invited to make popsicle stick structures and see how well they stand up to simulated earthquakes on the "Earthquake shake table."

We'll also have the MicroEye out so you can check out a new selection of rocks, magnified.
