Summer Blast 2024

Summer Blast has something in store for ages galore—from concerts and movie screenings to our summer reading program with free books and prizes.

Reading sparks your creativity

Ready to read? Take part in Summer Blast starting June 1st and track your reading time for 30 days. Win a prize when you complete the challenge!

  • Our summer reading program is open to anyone.  Kids, teens, and adults can all get in on the fun—you don’t even need a library account.
  • Sign up at the library or online starting June 1. Pick up a reading log at the library or download one from our website.
  • You get to pick a free book when you sign up and add your name to our window display.
  • Set your reading goal—we encourage 30 minutes a day for 30 days!
  • Keep track of your reading in the log. Use the paint palette to track your progress. Each paint splotch is equal to one day.
  • When you reach your 30-day goal, bring your log back to the library. We’ll stamp it and give you a custom Chapel Hill Public Library coloring book and sticker sheet.
  • Read whatever you like! If you need recommendations, you can always ask a librarian, explore our book lists, or fill out a You Might Like Form.
